Type Locality and Naming

Along the Darbaza station, Prishashkent Chuli. N.E. Minakova, 1941 (298, p.25). Stratotype 4km from the Darbaza station.

Synonym: Darbasinskaya Suite, Darbazinskaya suite, Дарбазинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Divided into two sub-suites. Lower sub-suite - greenish-gray, red sandstones, sands, siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 8-32m. Upper sub-suite - light-gray sandstones, marls with layers of clays and siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 20-36m. In some sections, thickness up to 120m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The suite lies with erosion on the Syuksok Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Temirchin Fm in the Prishashkent Chuli and the Aksagatin Fm in the foothills of the Chatkal, Karzhantau, and Kuramin ranges.

Regional extent

Prishashkent Chuli, in the Tashkent depression, exposed by drilling.

Fossils

Lower sub-suite – Contains marine bivalve mollusks - *Arca tenuistriata* Münst., *Chlamys campaniensis* (Orb.), *Liostrea acutirostris* Nils., *Septifer (?) ahaaralensis* Pojar. Upper sub-suite - Contains ammonites - *Gissarites ex gr. kysylshense* Iljin; marine bivalve mollusks - *Nucula tenera* Müll., *Pteria linguiformis* Meek., *Lopha (A.) falcata* Mort., *Modiolus bobkovae* Pojark., *Lithophaga intermedia* (Ot).


Age 

Lower sub-suite fossil data belongs to the lower Campanian. Upper sub-suite belongs to the upper Campanian. The entire suite belongs to the Campanian. A. divided the suite into three sub-suites - lower, middle, upper. The lower sub-suite, according to A., belongs to the Cenomanian-Turonian, middle and upper - to the Senonian. R.Yu. Muzafarova (322) refers the Darbaza Fm to the Coniacian-Campanian. G.A. Belenky (95) separates the upper sub-suite into the Temirchin Fm and refers it to the Danian-Montian, lower and middle sub-suites - to the Coniacian-Maastrichtian; in the Strat. Sl. (446) - to the Senonian, upper sub-suite, possibly - to the Campanian.
